CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

SPORT AEROBICS & FUN FITNESS

  • SPORT AEROBICS IS A RECREATIONAL AND/OR COMPETITIVE SPORT WHICH COMBINES AEROBIC CHOREOGRAPHY WITH GYMNASTICS ELEMENTS. IT DEVELOPS POWER, STRENGTH AND FLEXIBILITY, CO-ORDINATION,AND SELF CONFIDENCE. IT IS FAST PACED AND PERFORMED AT HIGH INTENSITY TO MUSIC. 

  • ATHLETES CAN COMPETE AS AN INDIVIDUAL, PAIR, TRIO OR TEAM. 

  • CLASSES ARE EXCITING AND FUN, DESIGNED TO IMPROVE ALL ASPECTS OF FITNESS.

  • BEGINNER ATHLETES ARE ENCOURAGED TO CHOOSE FUN FITNESS AS AN INTRODUCTORY STEP INTO SPORT AEROBICS. 

 

GYM

  • A TUMBLING CLASS FEATURING BEGINNER TO ADVANCED LEVELS. 

  • THIS CLASS FUSES GYMNASTICS WITH ACROBATICS.

  • CLASSES DEVELOP STRENGTH, FLEXIBILITY, BALANCE AND AGILITY. 

  • A STRUCTURED WORKOUT IN A GROUP SETTING TO INCREASE STAMINA, STRENGTH AND FLEXIBILITY IN A FUN AND INSPIRING ENVIRONMENT.

 

TECHNIQUE + STRETCH

  • A CLASS DESIGNED TO DEVELOP FLEXIBILITY/MOBILITY WITH AND WITHOUT THE USE OF EQUIPMENT. 

  • CLASS CENTRED ON DEVELOPING POSTURE, BREATHING, BALANCE AND CONTROL.

 

JAZZ

  • A STRUCTURED CLASS DESIGNED TO DEVELOP TECHNIQUE, FLEXIBILITY AND STYLE. THIS HIGH ENERGY CLASS ADOPTS INFLUENCES INCLUDING BOB FOSSE, JEROME ROBBINS, MUSICAL THEATRE, CURRENT CINEMA/THEATRE AND ARTISTS. 

  • CLASSES FEATURE TURNS, KICKS, JUMPS AND LEARNING TO PERFORM STYLISED CHOREOGRAPHY. DANCE DRILLS

  • A CLASS TARGETED ON PERFORMING SPECIFIC SKILLS AND TRICKS, FLEXIBILITY, BALANCE AND POWER.

  • CLASS CATERS FOR BEGINNER FOUNDATIONS TO ADVANCED.

 

HIP HOP

  • A FUN, STREET STYLE DANCE CLASS FEATURING BREAKING, POPPING AND LOCKING WITH A COMBINATION OF NEW AND OLD SKOOL STYLES.

  • WE USE CLEAN AND FUNKY BEATS/MUSIC.

 

BALLET

  • A STRUCTURED CLASS PERFORMING EXERCISES FROM BALLET SYLLABUS. 

  • BALLET IS A COMBINATION OF PILATES AND ENDURANCE TRAINING, BENEFITING ALL AGES DEVELOPING STRENGTH, STAMINA, MOBILITY AND FLEXIBILITY.

 

LYRICAL

  • A TECHNICAL CLASS USING BALLET FOUNDATIONS, JAZZ AND ACROBATIC MOVEMENT. 

  • LYRICAL IS A STYLE OF DANCE THAT IS FLUID AND ALLOWS THE INDIVIDUAL TO BE MORE EXPRESSIVE AND EMOTIVE THROUGH MOVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE QUALITYTO TELL A STORY.

SMALL GROUP TRAINING (SGT) COMPETITION

  • SELECTED FOR UPCOMING COMPETITIONS AND EVENTS ENTERED BY HARRIMAN DSAF. 

  • FOCUSSED ON ROUTINE CHOREOGRAPHY IN A PRIVATE / SEMI PRIVATE ENVIRONMENT. 

  • FOR ELITE LEVEL ATHLETES -PERFORMANCE AND SKILL SPECIFIC TO A TEAM OR INDIVIDUALS GOALS. 

  • BOOKINGS ARE ESSENTIAL-2 LESSONS MINIMUM PER TERM IS COMPULSORY WHEN COMPETING FOR HDSAF.

 

PRIVATE LESSONS

  • ONE ON ONE EXPERT COACHING TO DEVELOP AND STRENGTHEN THE ATHLETE/DANCERS SPECIFIC GOALS AND PREPARE THEM FOR COMPETITIONS/PERFORMANCES.

 

EPS COMPETITION SCHOOL SQUAD

  • ONLY FOR AUDITIONED STUDENTS/ATHLETES COMPETING FOR ERMINGTON PS.

  •  SQUADS ARE SPLIT INTO YEAR 3-4 AND YEAR 5-6.STUDENTS CAN ONLY COMPETE IN TEAMS OF 5-10 (SELECTION INTO TEAMS IS BASED ON AGE AS WELL AS SKILL LEVEL). TEAMS ARE SELECTED BY COACHES VIA AUDITION AT THE START OF THE SCHOOL YEAR. SCHOOL SQUAD SESSIONS RUN ONCE A WEEK FOR 2 HOURS IN TOTAL. 

  • REQUIRES COMPULSORY ATTENDANCE AT ALL TRAINING SESSIONS AND COMPETITIONS. 

  • STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN POSTIVE ENERGY, COMMITMENT AND ATTITUDE AT EVERY LESSON AND COMPETITION. 

 

DEVELOPMENT SQUAD

  • EPS YEARS 1-4 CAN BE SELECTED FOR THIS SQUAD. SELECTION VIA AUDITION ONLY. 

  • ONLY FOR SUCCESSFULLY AUDITIONED ATHLETES WHO SHOW A HUGE PASSION FOR, AND COMMITMENT TO DEVELOPING THEIR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE COMPETING IN SPORT AEROBICS. 

  • THIS SQUAD IS NON-COMPETITIVE: WILL PERFORM AT SCHOOL AND OTHER PERFORMANCE EVENTS ONLY.

  • TRAINING IS DESIGNED TO BUILD STUDENTS’CONFIDENCE AND SKILLS TO PREPARE THEM FOR SELECTION IN COMPETITION SCHOOL SQUAD IN FUTURE YEARS
